The Mexico Fire Department "Truck Committee" members made a road trip to the KME factory in Pennsylvania to see first hand how KME builds their
fire trucks. The reason for this trip was that we are in the process of buying a 75' aerial (Quint) from them. Though none of the trucks they looked over
were being built for us, they still had the chance to see and discuss what will go into ours when it is built for 2008. We got delivery by the
end of July 2008. You may ask what the heck is a qunit aerial. A quint, or quintuple combination pumper, is a fire service apparatus that serves
the dual purpose of an engine and a ladder truck. The name quint is derived from the Latin prefix quinque-, meaning five, and refers to the five functions
that a quint provides: pump, water tank, fire hose, aerial device, and ground ladders.
