On 8/9/07, CSX Rail executive Steven Longden presented a plackard to show their appreciation to
Fire Chief Doug Horton and the Mexico volunteer Fire Department for the help given by the fire department when a CSX train ran out of
water coolant to it's engine. This in turn backed up rail traffic in both directions as well as roadways. The Mexico Fire Department
responded by delivering much needed water to the engine so that it could continue on its way and keep both rail and auto traffic moving.
The presentation was followed with a very nice meal also provided by CSX.
